Established at the beginning of 1992 to specialise in
the niche market of Carriage Driving. Carriagehouse is a
small business and is now regulated by the Financial
Services Authority as an insurance intermediary.
Due to our success We have now expended into insuring
all horses used for recreational or breeding purposes
with the exception of racehorses and polo ponies. We
also cover their Tack, Harness, Carriages, trailers and
horseboxes.

All staff at Carriagehouse own horses and compete with
them, so they are ideally placed to help with your horse
insurance requirements. All have had a crash course in
driving and it’s equipment so they understand that
owning a Ralli Car doesn’t mean you are Stirling Moss!

Whilst most of the insurances are underwritten by
Lloyd’s of London, all policies are issued by
Carriagehouse and then any claims are also handled by
Carriagehouse. This ensures continuity between arranging
your cover and then helping you if you have a problem.
The Proprietor, Fiona Gordon-Clarke, has been involved
in carriage driving from a tender age and used to do
well in Junior Whip classes in East Anglia. For many
years she sweated blood getting her Mother’s horses
ready initially for private driving and then for
presentation in Horse Driving Trials.
 |
| Mulberry - 4 years old |
In the past she has won and placed in Club driving
trails and qualified for the Indooor Horse Driving Trial
Finals driving her Russian Trotter Korsa. This horse,
now retired, usewd to spend the winter hunting with a
pack of bloodhounds at some considerable speed! She also
rides a 17hh Thoroughbred (Country Gent) in British
Eventing one day events, British Dressage and Riding
Club Teams etc.
It is this connection with both riding and driving
horses which meant that Carriagehouse chose to sponsor
today’s ride & drive class.
We have a website which gives details of all the staff
and their horses as well as more information on the
